Does Sugar Have Glycolic Acid
Sugar contains glycolic acid or
Shijianyun sugar, but there are many opinions on its composition. Or: Does sugar contain glycolic acid?

To understand this, we should investigate its source. Sugar is mostly made from sugar cane, sugar beets, etc. The quality of sugar cane is obtained by juicing, clarification, evaporation, crystallization and other processes. The same is true for sugar beets.

Glycolic acid has unique chemical properties and structures. It is often born in specific chemical reactions or natural metabolic processes.

Looking at the making of sugar, I have never heard of the introduction of glycolic acid. And from the chemical composition of sugar, it is mainly carbohydrate, which is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen elements in a specific ratio. The structure of glycolic acid is very different from that of sugar, and glycolic acid is rarely found in conventional sugar products.

However, nothing in the world is absolute. If the raw materials of sugar are specially polluted or processed in a specific environment, it is theoretically possible to mix trace amounts of glycolic acid. However, in terms of general conditions and conventional production, glycolic acid is rarely present in sugar.

Therefore, in ordinary sugar, there is probably no glycolic acid; only in very special cases, there may be its traces.
