How Long Glycolic Acid Takes to Lighten Skin
On the whitening time of fruit acid
The effect of fruit acid on skin whitening is expected by everyone, but it takes a long time to take effect, and it is difficult to generalize.

Because of many factors, it affects the whitening power of fruit acid. First, the difference in skin type has a deep impact. For oily skin, the sebum secretion is strong, the stratum corneum may be slightly thicker, and the penetration of fruit acid may take a little longer; for dry skin, the stratum corneum is thin and dehydrated, and the tolerance to fruit acid is weak. Although it is absorbed or quickly, the initial concentration should be low, which makes the whitening effect time different. Second, the concentration of fruit acid is related. Low-concentration fruit acids, such as 2% to 5%, act gently on the skin, only slowly improve keratin metabolism, and whitening is slow, or it takes weeks or even months; high-concentration fruit acids, such as 10% to 30%, can quickly exfoliate, promote melanin metabolism, and the whitening effect may be obvious in a few weeks. However, high-concentration fruit acids are also risky, requiring professional operation, and the skin needs an adaptation period. Third, the frequency of use is related to the method. Use regularly according to the doctor's instructions, such as 1-2 times a week at the beginning, gradually increase to 3-4 times a week after adaptation, with correct application, residence time, etc., in order to achieve the best effect. If used improperly, not only whitening but fruitless, but also damaging the skin.

Overall, use fruit acid regularly and properly. For light skin tone, low concentration of fruit acid after 4-8 weeks or see slight whitening; high concentration of fruit acid, 2-6 weeks or significant changes. For dark skin tone, due to more melanin, the onset or slightly slower, low concentration of fruit acid or 8-12 weeks, high concentration of fruit acid 4-8 weeks or improved. But individuals are different, and the actual duration may be different. And at the same time as fruit acid whitening, sun protection should be emphasized, otherwise melanin regeneration will offset the whitening effect.
